I notice that there are alot of ladies who have comment on this issue, which is why you all agree, for the most part. But things are a little bit different from a man’s perspective because of the way that society has set it up for the man to pursue the woman. It is easy to say “well, just chalk it up as a mental note that she is attractive and move on”…but when would men actually meet anyone if that is all they did. If they could never approach women they don’t know, what options do we have? I agree that the horn thing is not the way to go, but to say that we should not try to speak to strangers cuts out the clubs, the lounges, parties, baby showers, bar mitzvahs, book clubs, etc…LOL. What do you suggest that a man could do, that is respectful, to approach you if he does not know you?

I didn’t mean to imply that men should not approach a woman that he finds attractive. I’m speaking specifically to the car situation. I’m all for striking up convo in the grocery store, club, or whereever, as long as you’re smooth with it. If you’re just randomly honking your horn or yelling out “excuse me miss” to women that pass by then that’s when it becomes tacky. Other than that, play on playa.

Now that’s funny, but you make a good point! It is rude and disrespectful. I generally don’t turn for horn honking either. Like you said… not interested!

Yeah, I don’t play that honking stuff either! It’s so empowering to know that the “honker” is
probably mad as hell that you don’t respond, but maybe they’ll know better next time.

There is nothing flattering or complimentary about honking your horn at a woman. It is rude plain and simple. Like Hostess said, some women aren’t so pressed that ANY half-assed attempt at “hollering” is acceptable.

I think honking at someone you don’t know to get their attention so you can “mack” is rude. I also think it also show what level of class the honker has. Just my opinion.
