Should’ve Seen it Coming… | # | Randomness — K.unwrapped @ 1:18 am

My phone rings at about 11:30pm and it’s my friend Kiki. I debate on whether I should answer it or not as I’m in the midst of trying on a dress I bought for New Year’s Eve, after which I planned to go to sleep. I answer the phone and she tells me that she wants me to meet her cousin who’s visiting from Texas…he’d been here since last weekend and I still hadn’t met him. I tell her that I’m about to get in bed because I’m not on vacation like EVERYBODY else. She begs me to stop by for just a few minutes…after all, his flight leaves tomorrow afternoon and there’s no telling when he’ll return. So I’m thinking that maybe they are really close and she wants her friends to meet him. She begs some more and I feel bad for not making time to meet him all week. It’s only 6 blocks drive anyway.

A little while later I arrive at the house (decked out in sweats) and there are two other ugly ass guys there in addition to the cousin, who is by far the best looking of the three. It doesn’t click. This cousin happens to be from the Tanzanian side of Kik’s family. I sit down on the couch and catch up with Kiki’s sister and she introduces me to the guys. Then the cousin puffs on a cigarette as Kiki’s sis and I talk some more. I’m thinking, why was Kiki so pressed for me to meet this guy? More importantly, why am I here? About 20 mins after arriving I say my goodbyes then Kiki asks why I’m leaving so soon with a hint of faux confusion on her face. It still hasn’t clicked.

As I walk to my car, here comes the cousin running after me, asking if I have a man. It FINALLY clicks — the good ole "call one of your friends for me so I won’t be the 5th wheel" trickery. I can’t lie and say yes because I’m sure Kiki told him that I’m single and if she didn’t I’m sure she will. Can I call you? No. Well, can you take my number? No. Can I get your number from Kiki? No. Why not? Um…because you live in Texas. But I can move to Philly for you! Just NO! *gets in car and drives away not feeling guilty for stereotyping African men…they NEVER prove me wrong*

I could kick myself for being so damn gullible LOL. I just might kick Kiki for that mess…she KNOWS that if she’d been up front about that shit I would’ve taken my ass to bed!

On another note, I’m headed to Atlanta for the weekend and want to wish everyone a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year!

  2. Your friend should have atleast told you that she needed you to keep the other guy company.Sheesh.

And I hate when guys keep asking for you number after you have already shown them repeatedly that you are not interested.

  4. Yo, that was real hardcore what you did. What is it with African men? Seriously?

In my experience they refuse to take no for an answer. Like, they don’t care if you’re not interested (and blatantly tell them so), they’re gonna keep on trying. And the ones that I did have an interest in wanted me to friggin’ marry them on the 2nd date.
